In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for driving sales performance and building long-term, trust-based relationships with key accounts, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders within the Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) community. You will develop and execute strategic account plans, identify growth opportunities, and ensure effective implementation of promotional and educational initiatives to support BioCryst’s innovative therapies.
To succeed in this role, you should be an experienced and results-driven Key Account Manager with a proactive and strategic mindset. A proven track record in rare diseases or specialty care is highly valued, along with strong business acumen and the ability to work independently in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. Key responsibilities
Delivery of sales targets in the market.
Development of Key account plans to include identification and development of all relevant accounts and customers in his/her region/territory, local customer and communication plans and use of innovative concepts to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes and drive use of BioCryst products.
Develop and expand a thorough understanding of key customers.
Create, maintain and update an active customer database.
Develop strategies to effectively utilize marketing materials and programs.
Develop exceptional business plans with resource allocations that link to strong business results.
Be extremely customer-focused and able to build and foster strong positive relationships with key decision makers and opinion leaders.
Arrange and coordinate effective promotional programs within all promotional and regulatory guidelines.
Conduct essential field activities including, but not limited to, lunch and learns, customer in-services, and other compliant customer interactive activities.
Attend training programs, conventions, and symposia, as requested.
Focus on the end results of the sales process, demonstrating personal accountability, a sense of urgency and commitment to achieving business objectives.
Exemplify strong collaboration and teamwork with internal and external stakeholders, especially with market access and medical department.
Key qualifications
Experience in rare diseases and/or immunology/allergy, ideally with established relationships with relevant physicians.
Rare Disease and small company experience preferred.
Start-up commercial experience a plus.
Existing relationships with key accounts within assigned geography are helpful.
Strong track record of successfully exceeding sales goals.
Demonstrated success in selling in a territory where the candidate was the sole commercial salesperson.
Proven ability to formulate and implement effective rare disease sales skills and results.
Knowledge of relevant disease states and current treatments.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong business and analytical ability.
Positive energy, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent cultural fit: team-oriented, good vibes, trustworthy, and personable.
Proven ability to create and innovate, build and expand business and work both independently as well as in teams.
Ability to quickly assimilate complex information.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Knowledge of reimbursement.
Knowledge of territory.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Ability to travel as necessary or required, which may include overnight and/or weekend travel.
The position reports to the Commercial Director Nordics and will play an integral role within the UK/Nordics team. The preferred base is Sweden, and the territory includes Sweden, Denmark, and Norway.
