On behalf of Italfarmaco, Haeger & Carlsson Executive Search and Interim is looking for a Medical Liaison Manager to join their Nordic RD team at the forefront of a groundbreaking treatment for the neuromuscular disorder Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).
The Medical Liaison Manager will serve as the primary field-based point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and will be responsible for providing non-promotional scientific/educational, research support for company’s products and to support development and implementation of the medical and scientific strategy and other key medical affairs initiatives in Finland and Sweden. The primary focus of this role is to establish and nurture a strong, trust-based network with key opinion leaders in the neuromuscular rare disease space—particularly Duchenne muscular dystrophy—and to lead impactful collaborations aimed at addressing the unmet needs of patients and their families through scientific exchange, clinical insight, and strategic partnership.
In addition to external engagement, this role plays a pivotal internal function, acting as a strategic cross-functional partner to teams such as Market Access, Commercial, or PAG. The Medical Liaison Manager serves as a key contributor to the development and execution of the medical strategy, ensuring alignment with both corporate objectives and the evolving needs of the healthcare ecosystem.
The position requires a focused, solution-oriented professional who is well-organized, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities. Responsibilities include identifying, developing, and maintaining long-term collaborative partnerships with external stakeholders and institutions, while also driving the implementation of medical and scientific strategies and ensuring effective communication across internal and external stakeholders.
The Medical Liaison Manager will actively support local market access initiatives in collaboration with the Value & Access Lead and serve as the local point of contact for Finnish Patient Advocacy Groups, working closely with the Nordic PAG & Communications Lead.
This position can be based in either Finland or Sweden and reports to the Nordic Rare Disease Medical Affairs Director.

Responsibilities
- Identify, develop and maintain collaborative relationships with current and future Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and healthcare stakeholders in disease states of strategic importance to the company.
- Provide medical and scientific information to respond to KOLs’ technical questions about the molecule/drug.
- Identify and engage key TLs, HCPs, and investigators in scientific exchange on disease landscape & client assets.
- Represent client at select scientific congresses and professional society meetings.
- Provide clinical presentations and information in response to unsolicited questions (as appropriate) in academic, and healthcare provider setting in both group and one on one setting.
- Perform Medical Educational or other events requested by healthcare professionals.
- Deeply understand the unique treatment paradigm, key stakeholders, and healthcare landscape in your territory.
- Update Patient and Treatment Journey.
- Develop and execute territory plans in alignment with medical strategy.
- Gather careful insights from KOLs and report back to company to help develop clinical, as well as commercial strategy.
- Act as primary liaison to investigators involved in investigator sponsored trials.
- Develop insights in local Registries or other valuable outcome sources.
- Assist as needed to local tactical activities (coverage of presentations at select scientific congresses, knowledge of contracting local consultants, etc.).
- Assist in the reconnaissance of market landscape determination and competitive intelligence including therapeutic trends and unmet needs within the appropriate disease states and marketplace and provide timely feedback/information on emerging clinical/scientific information to internal stakeholders.
- Respond to external inquiries and deliver appropriate clinical and scientific information.
- Operate in a highly ethical manner and comply with all laws, regulations and policies.
- Complete mandatory training in assigned timelines upon hire as well as when new policies, SOP’s, guidance are issued.
- Adhere to internal standard processes and comply with regulatory and compliance requirements.
- And other job duties that may be assigned. May be modified at any time as business needs require.
Education & experience
- An advanced doctoral degree (MD, PHD, Pharm D) .
- Relevant experience, preferably in rare disease area.
- 5+ years of previous industry medical affairs experience required, preferably in MSL and/or headquartered based medical affairs role.
- Knowledge of healthcare system and understanding of treatment landscape, diagnostic testing, and reimbursement in your country/assigned region.
- Demonstrated expertise in building relationships and participating in credible scientific exchange with multiple audiences.
- Networking skills and confidence to interact with senior experts on a peer-to-peer level.
- Thorough knowledge of local (several countries or territory) legal, regulatory, and compliance regulations and guidelines relevant to industry interaction with health care professions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to present medical/scientific information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to function well, both independently and within a team setting, in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Team orientated and ability to work collaboratively towards common objectives.
- Biotech experience is a merit.
- Fluent in English and Finnish/Swedish.
- Able to travel within defined territory, 50-70% of time.
