Chief Financial Officer – Diamyd Medical

On behalf of Diamyd Medical we are looking for an experienced and dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join Diamyds fast-growing company. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the company’s financial strategy, ensuring accurate reporting, and leading investor relations in a high-paced entrepreneurial environment. The CFO is responsible for coordinating and managing the company’s financial activities, providing strategic support to the CEO and the Board, while ensuring compliance with financial regulations and maintaining effective risk management.
The ideal candidate has experience in the life science sector and publicly listed companies, with a strong focus on long-term shareholder value. Given Diamyd’s private investor base, financial transparency and value creation are key. We seek a hands-on, strategic CFO with strong leadership skills who thrives in a dynamic environment, balancing financial discipline with the agility needed for growth.
Diamyd Medical develops precision medicine therapies for the prevention and treatment of autoimmune diabetes. The investigational flagship product Diamyd® is a disease-modifying antigen-specific immunotherapy for the preservation of endogenous insulin production that has Orphan Drug Designation in the U.S. and has been granted Fast Track designation by the U.S. FDA. DIAGNODE-3, a confirmatory Phase III trial is actively recruiting patients with recent-onset Type 1 Diabetes in eight European countries and in the U.S. Diamyd Medical’s shares are traded on Nasdaq First North Growth Market, ticker DMYD B.
Main responsibilities
- Head of the Finance department and line manager of financial controller and accountants.
- Provide strategic support to the CEO and the Board.
- Member of the management group, fostering communication and collaboration with other members to ensure cohesive pursuit of the company´s strategic goals.
- Financial reporting, including Quarterly and Annual Reports, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery to the board and investors.
- Drive financial planning and analysis, including budgeting and forecasting.
- Support the company’s growth by managing financial risks and treasury management.
- Manage investor relations, working closely with the CEO on financial communications, including press releases and shareholder updates.
- Plan and coordinate finance activities with the CEO, while collaborating with the leadership team on operational and strategic financial matters, including HR and IT-related financial planning.
- Act as Board secretary, coordinating and overseeing board-related financial reporting, including meeting preparations, financial presentations, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Nasdaq First North Growth Market rules and other listing requirements, while overseeing the listing process and serving as the main contact for the Certified Adviser and stock exchange.
Experience and qualifications
- Proven experience as CFO or senior finance leader in a publicly listed company, preferably within the biotech or life science sector.
- Strong experience in investor relations and financial communication in a listed environment.
- Deep understanding of IFRS and regulatory financial reporting requirements.
- Experience in financial structuring, fundraising, and managing financing rounds.
- Prior exposure to international financial markets, including experience dealing with US exchanges (e.g., NASDAQ), is a plus.
- Hands-on experience in managing financial teams, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and strategic contribution.
- Relevant degree in finance, accounting, or economics.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to navigate a fast-growing, entrepreneurially driven company.
- Familiarity with financial systems and ERP implementations is a major advantage.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and ability to operate in a high-expectation, result-driven environment.
- Fluency in both Swedish and English, with excellent communication skills in both languages.
Location: The role is based at the company’s headquarters in central Stockholm.
